setting. This makes it a perfect choice for families with children who like to be able to walk to get everywhere. The Sao Pedro de Moel holiday park has 2 swimming pools and lots of grassy areas ideal for relaxing and enjoying the sunny days.
The local town is full of charm and Nazare is also well worth a visit as it looks like something straight off a postcard with it’s gorgeous beach and imposing cliffs. As for other facilities the park has a restaurant, takeaway and snack bar where you can get tasty dishes and recharge your energy.
Another recommended campsite is Camping Valverde near Praia de Luz. This holiday park is also on the Western coast with fishing villages, breathtaking cliffs and tiny coves. Valverde Holiday Park is set in an excellent location between the cliffs and the coves and has loads of facilities to keep the whole family entertained including a good size swimming pool, sports activities and a bar and restaurant.
You can choose accommodation to suit your party from a Villanova mobile home to a Villagrand with 3 bedrooms. Another option is the 2 bed chalets which sleep 5. The accommodation is nestled between the shady pine trees.
From this campsite you can visit the popular and lively town of Lagos where you will find winding cobbled streets and open air markets. This town also has a lively nightlife so if you’re a night owl then you will enjoy this place. Closer to the campsite is the resort or Praia de Luz where there is a lovely beach. This is just 2.5kn from Camping Valverde.
And if you like spectacular sunsets you must head for the “Lands End” of Portugal, Capo St Vicente.
The third recommended holiday park is most suitable if you want to fly to Portugal and take advantage of the budget flights into Faro airport. Easyjet, Ryanair, Thomsonfly and Jet2 all offer low cost flights from many UK airports to Faro airport in Portugal. Camping Quarteira is just 22km from Faro airport.
This pretty holiday park is in the heart of the Algarve and just 600 metres from the nearest sandy beach. The beaches in the Algarve really are some of the most stunning in the world.
The glamorous resort of Quarteira is on the doorstep with numerous bars and cafes as well as shops to wander round. This area has very safe swimming conditions for children making this campsite suited to families with young children. Golfers will be in their element
here with several championship golf courses within easy reach.
On the holiday park itself facilities include tourist information, excursion booking, restaurant, takeaway and snack bar. There is no actual bar on this campsite but plenty of bars close by in the town.
There are 2 swimming pools one for everyone and a separate one for children. You will find sun loungers by the pools and a sun terrace ideal for relaxing in the warm sunshine.
The swimming pools are open from mid march to end of September. This is when the weather is at it’s best. There is also a kids playground at Camping Quarteira which always proves to be popular with the little ones.
