Sunscreen on, flip-flops by the door and the whole summer holidays ahead of you. Spend the morning zooming down waterslides, then paddle out on a board in the afternoon while the kids try something new at the club. As the heat goes out of the day, you wander over to the night market with an ice cream. Eurocamp summer holidays are the big one of the year, when the whole park is finally running at full tilt.
- Eurocamp’s search: Sat 17 July for 7 nights
- Extra off from 11 nights
- £99 deposit until 31 January
The short version: this is when everything’s open. Eurocamp says some activities may only run in high season, which it generally means as July and August. Stay 11 nights or more on selected parks and dates and you save extra, so a longer trip can make good sense.

Which park suits which age?
The age of your youngest usually decides it, unless you’ve got a teenager who needs winning over.
With toddlers and under fives
Union Lido Mare has more toddler slides than any other park here, with a private stretch of beach alongside. Le Clarys-Plage runs a kids’ club for under fours in July and August. Marina di Venezia has toddler pools along with its big water park, while Park Umag has a club for under fives. Short journeys help with young children too, since Domaine des Ormes is only 27 km from St Malo, so nobody’s strapped into a car seat all day.
With primary school kids
This is the age Eurocamp’s epic waterparks were made for. Marina di Venezia, La Pinède and Domaine des Ormes all carry that label, with kids’ clubs running through the week in high season, so they’ll have made friends by the second morning. Pony rides at Domaine des Ormes add something different.
With teenagers
Give them some freedom and a bit of noise after dark.
Castell Montgri’s underground disco is the obvious one, with pools open until 10pm in high season. La Chapelle, La Pinède and Les Lacs du Verdon all run clubs for older teenagers in July and August. Park Umag has a fun park with a climbing wall and trampolines, which Eurocamp lists from 1 June to 15 September at a charge.
France, Spain, Italy or Croatia?
The big question is really whether you want to drive.
France, if you’d rather take the car
Pack the car with the bikes, the beach kit and everything else you own, because a drive to France means you can. Brittany is closest to the ferry, with Domaine des Ormes 27 km from St Malo. Head further south for the Vendée and La Pinède in the Charente-Maritime, or go all the way to the Mediterranean for La Chapelle, 1,003 km from St Malo. It’s a long way, though two days on the road with a stop in the middle is a holiday in itself if your kids travel well.
Spain, for the heat and the beach
Reus airport is 25 km from Playa Montroig and Girona is 53 km from Castell Montgri, which makes Spain an easy flight. Drivers can use the Bilbao ferry, 554 km from Playa Montroig.
Italy, for Venice on the doorstep
Marina di Venezia and Union Lido Mare both sit on the Adriatic coast close to Venice. Calais is around 1,400 km from either of them, so most families will want a flight rather than a drive across France. Venice airport is 51 km from Marina di Venezia. See all our parks in Italy if you’d like to compare the lakes.
Croatia, for something a bit different
Park Umag has direct beach access on the Istrian coast, with Pula airport 79 km away and Trieste 99 km. It’s 1,505 km from Calais, so we’d call this one a flying holiday. Its long pool terraces look right out over the sea.
What makes a good family holiday in the school holidays?
Everything’s within walking distance. That’s the whole point of a holiday park in August, when nobody wants to sit in a hot car. The shop is round the corner, the pool complex is open all day and the kids can go off to their club while you get on with your book. Look for the facilities your family will use every day, rather than the one big thing they’ll ride twice. If a theme park is on the list, Playa Montroig is 20 km from PortAventura World and Le Chêne Gris is under thirty minutes from Disneyland Paris.
Heat is the other thing to plan for.
Inland parks get hot in the middle of the day, so a morning of activities and an afternoon by the waterslides usually works best. The coast of France in the Vendée or Brittany can feel fresher, which some families with young children prefer.
What will you actually sleep in?
Eurocamp’s holiday homes come in Classic, Comfort, Premium and Ultimate ranges, with chalets and tents as well. By Roan accommodation is a separate range, which some offers leave out. What’s available changes from park to park, so read the details for your chosen dates before you fall in love with a photo. The accommodation you pick changes the price too, so compare a couple before booking. If you fancy canvas, our guide to Eurocamp safari tents explains how they work.
Little rules that catch families out
Nothing here will spoil a holiday, but each one has surprised somebody at a pool gate.
- Swimwear: several French parks say Speedos or fitted swimming briefs are required, including La Chapelle and Les Lacs du Verdon. Pack a pair rather than baggy shorts.
- Coverage: Playa Montroig doesn’t permit full-coverage swimwear or long clothing in the pool area.
- Pool passes: La Chapelle requires one to get into the pools. Ask at reception when you arrive.
- Wristbands: Playa Montroig and Castell Montgri both ask guests to wear one on site.
- Local taxes: these apply to most bookings. Eurocamp shows during booking whether they’re included or due when you arrive.
Why summer is when these parks come alive
Go in August and you get the full show. Kids’ clubs that only open at weekends in May run most days, with sessions for older children too, while evening entertainment that sits idle in spring gets going for real. Vilanova Park says its entertainment runs during high season only, which is why these weeks feel so different from Easter. Some parks even keep their restaurants for July and August.
| Park | Kids’ clubs in July and August | Beach | Getting there |
|---|---|---|---|
| La Chapelle | Mon to Fri and Sun, up to age 17 | Under 1 km | Perpignan airport 35 km |
| La Pinède | Mon to Fri, up to age 17 | 6.4 km | St Malo ferry 386 km |
| Les Lacs du Verdon | Mon to Fri and Sun, up to age 17 | None | Marseille airport 101 km |

How to pay less for a long summer stay
The school holidays are the priciest time to go, so it pays to know the rules. There’s no voucher site trick here, just the savings that Eurocamp prints on its own offer pages.
- Stay longer: an extra 5% off for 11 to 20 nights, or an extra 10% off for 21 nights or more, on selected parks and dates.
- Book by 31 January: you pay a £99 deposit to secure your holiday. After that date, it’s a 25% deposit.
- Been before? Returning customers get a 5% loyalty bonus. Book two or more holidays for the same season and you get an extra 5%.
- Spread the cost: your balance isn’t due until eight weeks before you leave, so you can pay it off bit by bit.
Driving or flying for the summer holidays
With two or three weeks ahead of you, a long drive feels different, because you can take the ferry to St Malo, stop at Domaine des Ormes in half an hour or carry on down the coast to La Pinède, which is 386 km from the port.
Going further? A flight cuts out a couple of days on the road, though you’ll want a car at the other end if you plan to get out and about. Compare the two before booking, since a family of four adds up quickly at the airport.
Summer questions, answered
What dates does Eurocamp’s summer page cover?
Eurocamp calls it late July and August, with its search starting on Saturday 17 July 2027 for seven nights. Change the dates to match your school, since term ends at different times across the UK.
When should I book a summer family holiday?
Early, if you can. Book by 31 January in the year you travel and it’s just a £99 deposit to secure your holiday, whereas after that date it’s 25%. It also gives you the pick of the accommodation.
Is there a summer offer from Eurocamp right now?
Its offers page shows no headline summer sale as we write. Its summer page does show a live price for each park, with any reduction marked beside it. The stay longer discount and the £99 deposit both apply on their own terms.
Can I change my booking if plans change?
Eurocamp says amendments are free until eight weeks before you leave for 2027 holidays, which is also when the balance falls due.
Can I combine the long stay discount with the loyalty bonus?
Eurocamp says the boosted loyalty bonus can be combined with the loyalty bonus and the stay longer discount. The long stay discount only covers selected parks and dates, so check the park you want.
Which parks suit teenagers?
Castell Montgri has its underground disco and late pools. La Chapelle, La Pinède and Les Lacs du Verdon all list kids’ clubs up to age 17 in July and August.
Which parks are right on the beach?
Marina di Venezia, Union Lido Mare, Park Umag and Playa Montroig all list direct beach access, while the waterslide fans will want to look for the epic waterpark label instead.
Can we bring the dog?
Marina di Venezia, Union Lido Mare and Playa Montroig don’t allow dogs. The others do, with most limiting you to one dog in selected types of accommodation.
